On July 11, 2019, a triple shooting erupted outside a shopping center in the 5600 block of The Alameda in Baltimore. Sixteen-year-old Travis Chance Jr. was killed, while two women were wounded in the same attack.

On June 11, 2020, 28-year-old Michael Montgomery was shot and killed in the 3700 block of Gelston Avenue in Baltimore. The homicide did not produce an immediate arrest. Nearly eleven months later, police announced that detectives had identified Martinez Armstrong as their suspect and charged him with first-degree murder.

On January 26, 2023, Desmond Gardner was on his lunch break in Cherry Hill, walking toward the apartment building where his young daughter was waiting.

He was 27 years old. He worked for Baltimore City’s Department of Public Works. Prosecutors said he was unarmed.

Baltimore Cherry Hill: The 14-Year-Old Found Shot Inside His Own Home

The murder of Najee Thomas did not begin as a street-corner shooting, a parking-lot ambush, or a crime scene built around shell casings in the road. It began inside a home on the 600 block of Roundview Road in Cherry Hill, where a 14-year-old boy was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

On September 8, 2016, federal prosecutors returned an indictment out of Baltimore, Maryland, that named 21 defendants tied to what prosecutors called the Hillside Enterprise. The case was unsealed on September 9, 2016, and alleged a Cherry Hill-based operation connected to 13 murders, 21 non-fatal shootings, drug distribution, firearms, stash houses, and years of violence across South Baltimore.

On February 20, 2024, 19-year-old Darcell Mitchell was shot on the 800 block of West Lexington Street in Baltimore. Police said the shooting began outside, but Mitchell was later found inside a nearby home after officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert.

On January 14, 2026, at approximately 1:51 p.m., Baltimore police responded to an area hospital after 36-year-old Davon Johnson arrived with a gunshot wound. He did not survive. The investigation then moved away from the hospital and back to the 1700 block of East 25th Street, where police said the shooting happened before Johnson was brought in for treatment.
